Dr. Brenda Rambo

Dr. Rambo received her doctoral degree from Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College in Human Development Counseling, and has practiced as a psychologist for 26 years. She received broad and diverse training doing her internship and working in a community mental setting for many years.

Dr. Rambo established Rambo & Associates twenty years ago with offices in Shelbyville, Clarksville, and Brentwood, Tennessee. By the end of the 1990s, she was ready for a professional change and started to downsize the practice and worked only as a sole practitioner. In early 2001 she had an opportunity to teach graduate students at a large southern university as adjunct professor and was hired the next year as a full-time assistant professor, primarily teaching graduate students in the psychology department. She stayed in this position for several years, and eventually returned to full-time private practice which is and has always been her passion. Her office is located in Brentwood.

Dr. Rambo offers a message of hope and encouragement to people who are facing tough life challenges. She encourages honesty and integrity in working through the difficulties of life, and motivates people to become their best.

Dr. Rambo offers assessment and psychological evaluations for individuals who may be suffering with Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). People who have Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder experience chronic difficulties with inattention and/or impulsivity-hyperactivity. These symptoms are displayed early and appear to be excessive and inappropriate for their age, across a variety of situations that strain their ability to pay attention, restrain movement, inhibit their impulses, and regulate their behavior relative to rules, times, and the future. (Dr. Russell Barkley, Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder 3rd Edition, p 77). Research shows that ADHD is a genetic brain dysfunction passed down from a parent to a child. Children, adolescents, and adults who are suffering from pervasive difficulties across many situations should be properly diagnosed and receive professional treatment. People who have ADHD struggle with academics, social and family relationships, work performance and have great challenge managing their time and lives. It is important to be properly diagnosed, so professional medical treatment can be implemented.

Pre-employment psychological evaluations are conducted for over 30 public safety agencies such as  police, sheriff, and fire departments in a computerized Law Enforcement Testing Center. The Testing Center provides flexible appointments, decrease in time required for testing due to computerization, and quick turnaround of test results.

Dr. Rambo established a Reclaiming Your Health wellness program that encourages people to lose weight or find their optimum weight and regain their health by establishing healthy lifestyles. Simple healthy nutrition is encouraged with a basic exercise plan approved by and under supervision of their physician. LifeStyle counseling/coaching encourages clients to become wellness seekers and to gain knowledge about all aspects of health. Participants create their own goals which are accomplished through accountability and a disciplined determination.
